Elphie Good Girl: 2004 ~ 2005

On April 12th of 2005, I adopted Elphie (10 months old) from the local ASPCA. She was a meek thing hiding in her litter box when I first saw her. She had scornful look on her face that made me instantly connect with her. It was love at first sight.

When I brought her home, Fiyero (her new brother and current kitty) instantly took a liking to Elphie. Although he was 2 months her junior, he was two times bigger than her. No matter what I gave Elphs to eat, the girl could not gain weight. It was just another connection we had, being petite.

Elphie made herself at home. She loved to sleep in the bath tub, having a deep affection for anything porcelain. Fiyero was my goof ball, always making me laugh. He's not that big into snuggling. However, Elphie craved affection and slept with me every night always attempting to get my nightly read out of my hands so that I could pet her.

Elphie, she preferred the bath tub.

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, I was forced to leave my two kitties behind. However, they were rescued and flown to Philadelphia to join me at my parents. Shortly after their arrival, Elphie's belly began to bloat. I took her to the vet to find out that my good girl always had a fatal infection called F.I.P., which was why she was unable to gain weight. The stress of the airplane flight brought out the final symptom. The day after her vet visit, her kidneys began to fail. Two days after the vet visit, I lost my good girl. I am so grateful for the two weeks that I had her in Philly and that she wasn't alone either.

~Thank you to Troy for rescuing Elphie and Fiyero and also for the pictures.~
